More on Peru.....
Iquitos
Floating Village. The first floor of these houses are under water for part of the year when the river level is high.
This was a floating village 'restaurant'
(the small one at the front)
....they'll come to you!
The colourful paint is because Patch Adams showed up one year with many tins of paint so they all got in and decorated their houses.
This was a common site at the markets... tortoises ;-( Sold for their meat and eggs...
Austrian Butterfly Farm
This farm had many refugee animals, inlcuding this little monkey who was brought up by street kids as a pick-pocket....we had to hide all our belongings on arrival.
He also only liked boys...and had a jealous streak, so if I got to close to Ant then I would get a slap in the face!
This leopard was brought by locals thinking the owner of the farm would look after it..... It is now caged and fed and dangerous! it has already injured a disobedient tourist who stuck his arms up against the fence to get a clear picture...
This beast looked like it should have been in Jurassic Park.
An anteater. Another potentially dangerous member of the butterfly farm who has gouged an ignorant tourists with its claws.
My new hairdresser....
